Claude Cazals Clos Cazals 2015 - Champagne Extra Brut
Claude CazalsDescription
From an emblematic plot planted in 1957 in the heart of Clos Cazals at Oger, this 100% Chardonnay cuvée embodies the quintessence of the Grand Cru terroir of Côte des blancs. The signature of old vines is expressed with depth, elegance and perfectly controlled tension. Aged for nine years on lees in a vaulted cellar, 20% of which in oak barrels after fermentation in stainless steel tanks, this Champagne with a dosage of just 2 g/l displays great purity of expression. La robe pale gold, with silvery highlights, announces a fine, generous effervescence, revealing all the wine's dynamism. The nose, discreet at first, gradually reveals a refined bouquet: white flowers, hawthorn, then candied citrus and pastry notes. On the palate, the lively attack introduces an ample, chiseled body, revealing a chalky minerality typical of Oger. Aromas of citrus fruit and fresh butter underline a long, saline and energetic finish. A sunny vintage, 2015 offers a powerful, structured wine with precise balance. Destined for gastronomy, this cuvée pairs magnificently with white meats, pan-fried foie gras or noble fish accompanied by creamy sauces. A great wine from Champagne with an assertive personality.
