Bouchard Père & Fils Beaune Premier Cru "Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" 2020 Domaine - Beaune
Bouchard Père & FilsDescription
The Beaune Premier Cru "Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" 2020 is an emblematic cuvée from Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils, heir to a rich history rooted in Burgundy terroir. Acquired in 1791, this 3.92-hectare parcel enjoys an exceptional location on Les Grèves, a terroir with sandy clay-limestone soils that give the wine its finesse and elegance. The particularity of this vineyard lies in its very gravelly soil, favoring deep rooting and optimal drainage. Situated at an altitude of 230-250 meters, on a 15% slope, the vines benefit from an east-south-east exposure, guaranteeing optimal, even ripening. Meticulous plot management enables us to adapt the harvest to each specific zone: the leaner plots on the hillside allow for whole-cluster vinification, while the more clayey areas offer richness and depth. Harvesting is carried out by hand, in 13 kg crates, followed by rigorous sorting. Vinification begins with cold maceration, followed by Extraction measured by punching down, before careful ageing for 16 to 20 months in French oak barrels (35 to 40% new wood). Visually, this wine is lively but not overly deep. On the nose, it expresses a complex aromatic palette, blending ripe red and black fruits, with notes of fresh leather and woody spices. On the palate, it combines freshness, silkiness and balance, with a persistent, vibrant finish. Although already seductive in its youth, this wine has exceptional cellaring potential (7-10+ years), where it retains its bright fruitiness and velvety texture. A must for lovers of great Bourgognes.
